How many athletes will compete in Olympic Equestrian Jumping at Paris 2024?
In Paris 2024 there will be two medal counts in ski jumping: individual and team. A maximum of 75 athletes, one per NOC, will take part in the individual competition and 20 teams of three athletes in the team competition.
All of them will fight for the medals at the Chateau de Versailles.
To be eligible to compete, athletes must be born no later than 31 December 2006 (at least 18 years of age in the year of the Summer Games), while all horses competing in the France Olympic must be born on or before 31 December 2016 (at least eight years old in the year of the Summer Games).

Team qualification process
For the team qualification, France received three individual quota places as the host nation of Olympic Paris. A total of 19 other team quotas will be allocated based on team ranking at certain events held between August 2022 and the end of the season. Season 2023 according to the following distribution:
- Five Quotas (15 Athlete-Horse Pairs) for the five highest ranked Teams, excluding the Host National Team, at the 2022 FEI World Championships in Jumping.
- One quota (three pairs) for the highest ranked team, excluding already qualified teams, according to the final classification of the 2022 FEI Nations Cup Jumping Final.
- Three quotas (nine pairs) for the top three ranked teams, excluding already qualified teams, at the 2023 FEI European Jumping Championships from FEI Olympic Groups A and/or B.
- Two quotas (six pairs) for the top two ranked teams, excluding already qualified teams, in Group C 2023, designated by the FEI for the Olympic 2024 Qualifiers.
- Three quotas (nine pairs) for the top three ranked teams, excluding already qualified teams, from FEI Olympic Groups D and/or E at the 2023 Pan American Games.
- Two quotas (six pairs) for the top two ranked teams, excluding already qualified teams, from Olympic Group F at the Group F Olympic 2024 Qualification Event.
- Two quotas (six pairs) for the top two ranked teams, excluding already qualified teams, from Olympic Group G at the 2023 FEI Group G Olympic Qualification Event.
- One quota (three pairs) for the highest ranked team, excluding already qualified teams, according to the final classification of the 2023 FEI Nations Cup Jumping Final.
Individual qualification process
The last 15 tickets to Paris 2024 will be allocated through the individual qualification process. An NOC may apply for a maximum of one individual place, and only NOCs that have not accepted the team quota are eligible to receive an individual place.
What is the Paris 2024 equestrian jumping competition format and schedule?
In Paris 2024, the format of the competition and the number of athletes will be the same as in Tokyo 2020. In ski jumping, two sets of medals will be played in two open events: individual and team events.
There will be 75 Athlete-Horse pairings in the Individual Qualification Round, with a maximum of one per NOC. Each couple has a certain amount of time to complete the course, where obstacles and difficulties are set. When an obstacle falls or the time limit is exceeded, penalty points will be added. The lower the score, the better. The top 30 couples from the qualifying round advance to the final.

In the team event, 20 teams will compete, consisting of three pairs of athlete-horse. The scores of each Athlete-Horse pairing are added up, using the same principle as in the Individual Competition, to calculate the total score. The top 10 go to the final, where all points are reset and places on the podium are determined. Olympic Equestrian jumping athletes to watch at Paris 2024
In Olympic Paris, Steve Gerd will have the opportunity to take part in his sixth Olympic Games. The 40-year-old Swiss won gold in London 2012.
