The men’s World Cup was won by England for the first time over New Zealand following one of the most incredible cricket matches ever played that ended in a tie twice. Both teams scored 241 runs in their allotted 50 overs at Lord’s, and they were tied at 15 when they each batted for an additional over.

Due to the fact that England outscored New Zealand overall (26 to 17) in boundary fours and sixes, they were declared the World Champions. June 2022 – Bairstow brilliance as Baseball begins

For the third time in as many games, a seemingly impossible aim was pursued with absurd haste. This time, the target was 296 rather than the 277 at Lord’s and 299 at Trent Bridge. After scoring back-to-back hundreds in his previous two innings, Bairstow sped to a 29-ball fifty, the second-fastest in Test history, and by the time he reached the end of his innings at 71 not out from 44 balls, he had squandered Root’s chances of matching Daryl Mitchell’s feat of scoring hundreds in each of the three Tests.
