Following a vote among a specialist panel made up of ICC Hall of Famers, former international players, media representatives, and world cricket fans registered at ICC-cricket.com who had been voting since the nominees were announced last week, both players were chosen as the standout performers.

This is the first Irish player to win the Men’s Award, while Laura and Eimear [Richardson] had won the Women’s equivalent. Though a personal privilege, I think it won’t be long before more Irish players start receiving this kind of recognition.
