Each of the four players has distinct skill sets to offer, and if Lynagh had played more rugby, he might have been selected.
Centres
On the aircraft:
Ollie Lawrence, Manu Tuilagi, Henry Slade, Joe Marchant
Since both Daly and Farrell provide coverage at ages 12 and 13, we believe Borthwick may choose to use only three or four primary centres. England requires quick, direct runners, and the addition of Marchant to the foursome at 13 for his defensive prowess and aerial ability will help.
By the narrowest of margins, Slade takes last place in our competition due to his skill rather than his performance, but he must start producing at the very top level.
In departures:
Will Joseph, Dan Kelly, Guy Porter
Joseph is a young man with exceptional talent who deserves to play for a long time, but this tournament might simply come a year too soon for him. Porter can cover the wings in an unforeseen situation and never fails to perform for the teams he is chosen for.
Kelly is now left out due to the balance between players at positions 12 and 13 and the fact that Slade’s 60 caps haven’t resulted in much in the way of meaningful Test effect. As was already mentioned, Kelly’s place is also very much up in the air.

These three talented athletes should have been given more opportunities than they have up to this point. Dingwall is an integral member of one of the Premier League’s top offences, and Lozowski’s friendship with Farrell shouldn’t be disregarded. Ojomoh, like Joseph, is a man for the future but is currently in second place to the Exiles guy.
Fly-half
On the aircraft:
Owen Farrell, Marcus Smith, George Ford
A fairly simple choice with the subtlety that each player has a specific function: Farrell starts, Smith scores, Ford covers or has the option to play 10 or 12 with Farrell, depending on the situation. It’s important to note that, perhaps, only France and New Zealand have as much depth in the position as England has.
This is a true position of depth for England and one that requires strategic management to get the best performance out of the players.

Fin Smith
The Warriors’ Cup Saint has come a long way this year, stepping into the enormous shoes left by Dan Biggar. He’s a player for the years to come in a position where England has a tonne of depth.

Charlie Atkinson, Orlando Bailey
Although Atkinson is incredibly talented, his temperament in critical situations is simply not up to par as proven by his missed touch kicks in the dying seconds of the Premiership Semi Finals. Scrum-half
On the aircraft:
Jack van Poortvliet, Ben Youngs, Alex Mitchell
The pantry at nine is somewhat less equipped for all of England’s treasures at ten. Van Poortvliet appears to have gotten worse as a performer over the past season, and his box-kicking technique is just insufficient for Test level competition.
Although Youngs, who will be chosen for his overwhelming experience and dependability, is by far the most reliable and experienced passer, Mitchell is by far the largest offensive danger.

Raffi Quirke, Ben Spencer
If Quirke’s stamina could be depended upon, he would be there or thereabouts, but he is unable to complete a run of games. There are still concerns regarding Spencer’s speed in serving despite Bath’s resurrection, which has been largely attributed to him. Van Poortvliet will be under pressure from both of these excellent possibilities.

Gus Warr, Danny Care
Warr may have been an important contender a few weeks ago, but his kicking ability doesn’t match up to his pace of service. Care is another player who can consider himself extremely unlucky.

A combination of physicality and size with the arrival of Martin, the Tigers’ dominant player. To compete with nations like France, Argentina, and South Africa, England needs lineout prowess and power, and having a big man at six is a crucial component of that.
Lawes and Martin both offer significant advantages in this regard, with Martin also providing lock back up. Given his performance in the Top 14, Mercer is a lock, and we virtually flipped a coin between Billy Vunipola and Ludlam, with the former providing more versatility and also covering at eight.
In exits:
Tom Willis, Billy Vunipola, Tom Pearson, Sam Simmonds, Matt Rogerson, Ben Earl
Any one of Pearson, Earl, or Willis could request a slot by charging late. Despite earning 16 caps for England, Earl has yet to begin a Test match. Pearson, who is large enough to play as a Test six and who locked the England U18 scrum, has also been in impressive form.
Willis might just be a curve ball; according to reports from France, he’s just as excellent as Mercer and may even be more physically talented. Simmonds is the man to turn to if you want speed in your rushing game. Although Borthwick is said to be a huge Rogerson enthusiast, we are unable to recognise what Rogerson adds that other people do not.
Vunipola has been an outstanding player for England, so we feel terrible leaving him out, but given the requirement for balance in the lineup and his present injury, there is no way we can pick him before the guys we’ve chosen.

Sam Underhill, Lewis Ludlow, Will Evans, Ted Hill, Alex Dombrandt
Dombrandt will be the surprise withdrawal in this lineup because he hasn’t exhibited the work rate and toughness required near the breakdown for the current Test Eight. While Underhill’s chronic concussion troubles make him a danger too large to consider, Hill had the greatest possibility to qualify for the cut but we do not see him unseating the others we’ve chosen.
Second-row
On the aircraft:
Joe Launchbury, Maro Itoje, David Ribbans
We anticipate Borthwick to select Itoje and two middle jumpers because Martin was included in the back-row selection. Jonny Hill is the strongest lock England has, and in the age of strength, he is the kind of enforcer that has been lacking.

Chessum is included in this list merely because, as of this writing, it appears improbable that he will be selected. However, you can never be too sure. If he can get fit in time, he will take Martin’s spot as our “on the plane” backup back five options.
Despite his unwavering dedication, the world continued to move on from Ewels. If there is one unseen hero we would consider, it would be Gloucester’s magnificent Clarke, a remarkably underappreciated player.
Hookers
On the aircraft:
Theo Dan, Jamie George, Luke Cowan-Dickie
The value of George to England cannot be underestimated. He was a real crushing nuisance and had excellent darts and scrummaging skills. We consider Cowan-Dickie subject to form and fitness because there isn’t much greater if his body can be trusted.
George McGuigan and Dan are vying for the final spot, but we believe that England has to strengthen and that the youthful Sarrie has demonstrated enough to be chosen.
In exits:
Tom Dunn, George McGuigan, Jamie Blamire
You pay your money and you take your option between two incredibly active sprinting hookers and one made entirely of concrete. Depending on the shape and fitness of the others, only two of these three may receive a spot. If George is not healthy, Dunn is the first to leave the group while the others provide more of an offensive counterbalance.

Jack Singleton, Dan Frost, Jack Walker,
Again, contrasting styles, with Frost’s speed and handling, which have improved greatly since his move to Exeter, or the pair of Jacks’ steadiness at set-pieces, Walker and Singleton. Once again, pick what you require and make your selections accordingly.

Loosehead: Mako Vunipola, Ellis Genge, Joe Marler
Tighthead: Dan Cole, Trevor Davison, Kyle Sinckler
There is a wonderful depth to England’s loosehead lineup, but there aren’t enough big players developing at tighthead. We’ve chosen a mix of carries and scrummages, with Marler being recalled for his incredible strength in the tight, which may be required against players like Tyrel Lomax, Uini Atonio, Taniela Tupou, Frans Malherbe, and Frans Malherbe.
Vunipola is selected because of his consistently underrated handling and work rate. On the other hand, Davison provides stability while having the ability to play on both flanks if necessary.

Val Rapava-Ruskin, Will Stuart, Simon McIntyre, Bevan Rodd
Rapava-Ruskin would probably have been one of the initials we would have written down if this were our preferred choice, but we comprehend that Borthwick feels that he needs to work harder off the ball. The two Possession youngsters each bring a unique skill set to the team: Rodd is the fourth back-rower, while McIntyre is the right specialist. Stuart is the obvious tighthead backup.
