As fantasy football season approaches, finding a sleeper in 2021 is a priority for most fantasy managers. From a sleeper’s point of view, there may be no more important position than running back. Let’s take a look at the five RB sleepers for the 2021 fantasy football season.

In the fantasy football draft, Gus Edwards is probably the most confusing. By 2020, the Baltimore Ravens had 555 passes, 509 of which were tied with four tackles. Of those, 72 are Mark Ingram, who is now on the Houston Texans’ list. The Crows did not add a guard to replace Ingram, who largely retired from the offense after Week 6 of the 2020 season.

During his three-year career, Edwards played much the same role in Baltimore. He has had at least 133 steals per season. In addition, Edwards’ target will rise from nine in the first two years to 13 by 2020.

Edwards’ current placement on the Rb47 is now like the floor for him, assuming he plays all 16 games again. Therefore, drafting him in that place has great potential for value.

If J.K. Dobbins is injured, Edwards can see an uptalation in wearing it. Edwards, however, can only see improvement in Ingram’s absence. It can be frustrating to have Edwards on your roster, but he’s a defender who can produce solid numbers every week.

I think Tevin Coleman will be tough in the season after the injury, but he has some potential advantages. Currently, there is no clear RB leader on the New York Jets’ depth chart. Given Coleman’s game in San Francisco — the Jets’ offensive coordinator, Mike LaFleur, is expected to bring him into the New York system — he’s likely to play a big role in the offense.

Coleman has proven he can be a fantasy contributor when he’s on the field. From 2016 to 2019, he did no worse than RB32, missing just six games in four seasons. In his first year in San Francisco, he completed RB32, although he saw only 137 carries and 30 goals.

While New York has a lot of talent, LaFleur can use multiple linebackers, and Coleman has the potential to return to about 150 carries and 40 goals.

In 2016, Coleman joined Kyle Shanahan’s offense in Atlanta. Although he had only 118 passes and 40 goals, he finished the season as RB18; though this is driven by 11 touchdowns, it shows he can be a prolific defender in limited contact. In the 12-team league, Adp is around round 16, and Coleman is likely to make a difference in his draft position.
